Location: Dundee/Glasgow (Hybrid)
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience.
Role: Permanent, Full-time, 35 hours per week.
Paid media is changing. We're looking for someone who wants to stay ahead of it. We're looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Paid Performance Manager to join the digital team at Altar.
This is a hands-on role for someone who knows their way around Google Ads, understands what makes campaigns perform and is curious enough to keep questioning what could work better. Google Ads will sit at the heart of the role, but you'll work across a wider paid media mix including Meta, LinkedIn, TikTok and YouTube, helping clients make smarter decisions about where and how they invest their budgets. You won't just manage campaigns. You'll understand the data behind them, spot opportunities others might miss and turn performance into clear recommendations clients can actually act on.
What you'll be doing
- Plan, build and optimise paid campaigns - From keyword and audience research through to campaign structure, targeting, ad copy, testing and ongoing optimisation across Google Ads, Meta, LinkedIn, TikTok and YouTube.
- Make budgets work harder - Manage paid advertising budgets across a varied client portfolio, monitoring spend and performance while continually looking for ways to improve efficiency and results.
- Know what the numbers are really telling us - Work with GA4, GTM, conversion tracking, Pixels and offline conversions to make sure we're measuring the right things and investigate when the numbers don't add up.
- Turn data into direction - Build meaningful performance reports that go beyond clicks, impressions and CTRs. Identify what's working, what isn't and, importantly, what we should do next.
- Be confident with clients - Lead performance conversations, explain recommendations clearly and proactively bring ideas and opportunities to the table rather than waiting to be asked.
- Work as part of the bigger picture - Collaborate with account managers, developers, designers and the wider digital team to connect paid activity with organic search, social, content, websites and wider campaign objectives.
- Keep looking forward - Paid media is changing quickly. We want someone who enjoys keeping up with what's new, whether that's AI, automation, new platform features or shifts in how people search and discover brands online.
What we're looking for
You'll have:
- Minimum of two years' hands-on PPC experience, ideally gained across a mix of agency and/or in-house environments.
- Google Ads as a core strength, including Search, Performance Max, YouTube and other campaign types.
- Experience managing Meta campaigns, with working knowledge of LinkedIn, TikTok and/or Microsoft Ads.
- A solid understanding of GA4, GTM, conversion tracking and campaign measurement.
- Experience managing advertising budgets and making informed decisions about how spend is allocated.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to turn performance data into clear actions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Serious attention to detail. You're the person who notices the tracking issue, the strange performance shift or the budget drifting off pace.
- A proactive mindset. You look for opportunities and bring ideas rather than simply managing what's already there.
- Curiosity. What worked last year won't necessarily work next year, and you'll want to understand what's changing and why.
Even better if you have...
- A good understanding of SEO, including technical SEO, content strategy and how organic and paid activity work together.
- Experience using tools such as SEMrush, Screaming Frog and Google Search Console.
- Agency experience and the ability to manage multiple clients, sectors and budgets.
- An interest in AI, automation and new technology and how it can be applied in digital marketing.
- Experience with server-side tracking or more advanced measurement setups.
Company Benefits
- From 28 days annual leave (plus you can buy/sell holidays)
- Aviva Digicare Plus (Health Support)
- Further training supported
- Group Life Assurance (4 x Salary)
- Cycle and Tech schemes
- Flexi time around the 9am to 5pm working day
- Pension contributions
- Flexible office locations
- Employee Ownership Bonuses (after 12 months service)
